  • Karol Szymanowski – ”King Roger” (concert performance) [80']

A phenomenal soprano from Łódź known as the queen of the italian bel canta and a honorary citizen of Łódź is celebrating the anniversary of her artistic activity. To commemorate this occasion, she will take part in the stage performance of ”King Roger” by Karol Szymanowski playing Roksana – the wife of the titular monarch – for the first time in her career. Joanna Woś, a graduate of the Łódź Academy of Music, has been cooperating with The Grand Theatre in Łódź since her stage debut as Lucia di Lammermoor in the Donizetti opera. She operates with a crystal clear voice and an incredible, exceedingly rare vocal range. The coloratura soprano parts from operas by composers such as Mozart, Offenbach, Rossini or Verdi gain new radiance during her performances. Her crown jewel is the part of Violetta in Verdi’s ”Traviata”. The vocalist has many abroad tournées in her oeuvre. She is a laureate of prestigious competitions and vocal festivals, including the first prize at the Bilbao International Singing Competition. She also received multiple Golden Mask awards from music critics as a testament to her artistic ability.
