On a Sunday afternoon you may come to a “Meeting with a Musical Note”, just be sure to bring along your rich imagination, sensitivity, and good mood. The house is dominated by children, while on stage music is made both by their peers and adult artists. This special concert series was started back in 1991.
Each programme is linked to the season of the year and important events in children’s lives. Some of the subjects include the coming of spring, Christmas, Children’s Day and Mother’s Day. The audience learn about new instruments, ensembles, musical styles, and composers from different historical periods. The music is complemented with poem recitation and dance, and the host explains the secrets of the art of sounds.
Some of the performers include preschoolers, such as the winners of the “Kindergarten Orchestra Competition”. A frequent performer is the “Pędziwiatry” Song and Dance Ensemble from Łódź, which appear twice yearly. Almost every concert features students of music schools in Łódź and the Łódź Province. Many of the children involved in “Meetings with a Musical Note” have become highly regarded artists, e.g. Wojciech Koprowski, winner of international competitions in Weimar, Łódź, Gdańsk and Freiburg.
The concerts are designed for children aged 4-13.
