From an interview with Piotr Dzieciol by Marzena Bomanowska
‘I am delighted with the growing artistic potential of our orchestra’
‘If you were to point out the number one concert of last year? – What would it be?
‘I’d say it was The Lodz Philharmonic’s whole season’

‘The conductor and the orchestra showed great sensitivity when accompanying The Chopin concert, having fulfilled Lang Lang’s requirements in tempo and dynamics (...) Interestingly, the horn player brilliantly performed the  expanded complex solo in ‘The Fifth Symphony’ by Mahler’

The highlight of the evening for me was the talent of the − conductor Daniel Raiskin. He succeeded in synchronizing extremely demanding  Pogorelic performance with orchestral parts. Hats off to him! Even the Croat said of Raiskin that he was ‘a very gifted conductor’.
The Lodz Philharmonic and its leader again proved what an extremely able orchestra it is during a daring performance of  Beethoven’s No.5 Symphony. The applause it was awarded after − the final sound  much louder than before the interval. Some people in the audience gave the piece a standing ovation which is fairly rare  in orchestra performances without a soloist.

Both the orchestra and the choir handled the material very well, in spite of its simplicity or  maybe because of it – it may mercilessly show the shortcomings of the performer. The sound was flawless – full and juicy, harmonizing with the voices of the choir.
The Lodz orchestra performed as the chamber orchestra at its best. Precision, the sound quality and the musicians’ personal engagement in delivering rather demanding programme have made a strong impression. This is undoubtedly a huge merit to Raiskin’s whose personal interest in contemporary music seemed to have been shared by his young musicians from the orchestra.   Lodz is  lucky to have such an innovative conductor who goes beyond the repertoire with his work and is willing to prepare new works with his orchestra and persuade –  both musicians and the audience to appreciate the world of contemporary music.
This was generally an extraordinary evening regarding the choice and arrangement of the programme. The soloists and the Chamber Orchestra of Lodz Philharmonic turned out to be a perfect match. They  showed great class together with The Lodz Philharmonic Choir prepared by Marek Jaszczak.

Ruch Muzyczny ( November 11th  2009)
The artists played very elegantly giving the priority to a lyrical element rather than exaggerated expression. They captured the musical composition of Haydn and Mendelssohn in an interesting way – the  former gentle and dreamy Poco adagio particularly drew the attention, in the latter  the playful Scherzo was as from Midsummer Night’s dream.
The performers should be given credit for interpreting  such a difficult piece. Raiskin led them confidently, following the programme logically, unfolding the accent well, building up to a climax, extracting the expression and finally letting the audience rest in the moments of reflection. The orchestra played with great dedication, showing high precision by most  creating many beautiful and widely − recognized fragments. Everyone aware of the taste of hiking expeditions could feel deeply touched.
